FYI: Beatrix Potter Storybook Figurines. Welcome to the world
of Beatrix Potter. This wonderful Victorian personality, being
creative beyond imagination, was the personification of human
creative genius. Her lifes story would take up many pages in itself.
I highly recommend reading her storyand the loving creatures she
created before attempting to understand the objects of her works
which will endure forever.

If you are a collector of Beatrix Potter Storybook figurines, you should buy the best
reference book available. Charlton offers the most comprehensive texts available.

SERIOUS COLLECTOR.

Understanding Beatrix Potter Storybook Figurines is quite complex.
The actual figurines differ only slightly. The backstamps can differ
greatly. In order to conserve the amount of computer memory, images
of the backstamp of each piece are not provided. First look at the
listing and its corresponding backstamp. For example, the listing
may refer to a "BP3b". To see what a "BP3b" is, look for the image
provided.

FYI:
This little dog "Duchess" is one of the rarest of
all the Beatrix Potter Figurines. Charlton's gives
all the information you will ever need to collect
and deal in Beatrix Potter Figurines.
There were two Duchesses produced, BP-2
produced in 1955 - 1967 and the one pictured above
BP -3b Style 2 - 'Duchess with Pie' which was produced in
1979 and discontinued in 1982. Imagine, only 3 years of
production and in only one Backstamp: BP-3b
("BP" stands for Beatrix Potter and "3b" refers to the
category of backstamps. BP - 3a, BP - 3b and BP -
3c complete the BP -3 series. They are the hardest
to put to memory. The above is a BP - 3b. Here's
why: They differ in just a few ways. BP - 3a --
Shows Beatrix Potter shows "the possessive" 's' for
"Potter's", but no Copyright date. BP - 3b -- Shows
the same as BP - 3a, but shows the Copyright date.
BP - 3c -- Shows the singular "Potter" with
he Copyright date. And that's it! "Duchess" is
therefore a "3b" and lists for $2200.00
C306
Say hello to "Lady Mouse" from the story "Tailor
of Gloucester". She has a Gold Round Backstamp,
therefore she is a BP - 1
C500
This is "Hunka Munca" with an Oval Gold Stamp.
The Gold really shows up well on this one. She
is therefore a BP - 2.

Variations & Versions
Now the fun begins. Storybook figurines has
many varieties of the same item. Each differing
just slightly from the other. Just a few examples
follow:
You are looking at "Squirrel Nutkin" - First Version
Second Variation with Green Nut. Available with
4 backstamps.

Now, why all the fuss? Why would a grown man
find these little figurines so fascinating? Beatrix
Potter created the stories and drawings of each of
the characters in her stories. The figurines were
created later, but under her instruction. This is the
only series of marvelous stories that relate to
figurines that depict the characters in the stories.
