Artistic renderings by Surveyers went hand in hand in settling the 
West. Government Surveyers would draw the landscape as they 
saw it and drewupon their sketchbooks to create the plates for the 
engravings that depicted the so called 'Wild West'. The print you 
are looking at is a steel engravingsthat was lithographed by Sarony, 
Major & Knapp.  It show signs of foxing and staining, but is quite 
suitable for framing. It measures 11" X 8 1/2".
